highlights of the match :D:D:D::D
germany is such a lovely TEAM.
everytime qian and i watch the second video, with them fooling around as bowling pins, we love them moremoremoremore <3

but i cant believe argentina.
first one of their players punched mertersacker after the match.
then their quotes about the match were so rude .
i have no more respect for those assholes.
where's the sportsmanship?
and dont come and say penalties dont need skills at all.
and germany didnt need a set-piece to score, they brought in the ball by themselves and headed it straight in.
sore losers just say so lah.
so what if you had more ball posession
so what if you have the star players
so what if your first goalie got injured
if you cant fight real hard and score
if you cant even get pass lehmann to score your penalties
dont come and talk so much.
and dont you forget that klose was injured during the collision with the goalie too, and he had to be sub-ed off.

and i realise that people are complaining about the time when lahm tackled rodriguez successfully and they think rodriguez deserved a penalty or something but he got a yellow card.
well lahm is not the one who dived and splated on the ground in front of lahm.
and how about the TWO times when germany had a free kick and michael ballack was going to head the ball when he got dragged down to the ground the first time and stabbed in the face the second, THERE WAS NO FOUL.

ok so i know i must sound damn pissed.
well yes i kind of am.
i'm pissed that people are pissed at germany, FOR WINNING?
i was damn sad for argentina at first, and i felt like crying when i saw cambiossa crying.
but now, i just think HECK YOU.

i bet everyone is dissing germany now.
seriously, all i have to do is look around and so many people are hating germany for beating argentina.
so now its a CRIME to beat argentina or something?
just because the odds are against you, you arent allowed to win?
thats rubbish lah.
i really hope germany can prevail now, and prove everyone wrong - they do deserve the win.

quotes from the match

Michael BALLACK (GER), Budweiser Man of the Match
I had to play on even though I had cramp, as we'd already brought on our three substitutes. It might not have been the prettiest match to watch, and we weren't at our best in front of goal, but tactically neither team made many mistakes. Penalties always comes down to luck. We made a conscious effort throughout not to let Argentina into the match, and at the end of the day, we were the ones who had the better chances.

We overcame a really big obstacle today. Argentina were hot favourites to go all the way. Now we've got our semi-final and we will be back in Dortmund, where the fans will give us some extra support again. We hope that we will be able to realise our dream, but it will by no means be easy.

Jens LEHMANN (GER)
Our guys hit some fantastic penalties. I'll say no more, though, since we have another challenge ahead of us already. I want to start preparing for our next opponent.

Miroslav KLOSE (GER)
I think that it was a fascinating match. I'm still breathless – I can hardly speak. It was an incredible game, and we were maybe a little lucky to win. We saw how the Argentinians came forward on the break whenever we sat back. In the second half, things were a lot better for us. It was tough for us forwards today, as the muggy conditions held us back a bit. I had an accidental collision with the goalkeeper and got cramp in my calves, which is why I had to come off.

David ODONKOR (GER)
I'm very happy that we won the match, and the fans we have are really great. We can't celebrate for too long, though – we need to prepare for the next match. It was a tense game, and a tough one as well. I think that I showed today just how much I love my football. The coach told me to go out and have some fun.

Oliver NEUVILLE (GER)
That was the toughest match to date for us in this tournament. In the end, we just had a bit more luck than they did, as that’s all that it comes down to with penalties. We showed some typically German qualities today and got back into the game after we fell behind. Argentina took the chance they had, we took ours and we ended up winning.

Philipp LAHM (GER)
We knew that we could turn the tide if we went behind. We're in the semis now, which probably no-one was expecting. Jens Lehmann is the kind of goalkeeper who exudes self-belief, and we all had every confidence in him too. The little gesture between Oli Kahn and Jens shows just how far this team has progressed.

Bastian SCHWEINSTEIGER (GER)
It was party-time in the changing room – we were dancing around, there was music playing, it was real fun. It was so good, the way the lads just stepped up and calmly slotted the penalties in. They put them away really well. We knew that the fewer mistakes we made, the easier it would be. We waited for some space to open up on the pitch and managed to win most of the ball at the back. We respect all of the teams left in the competition, but we aren't afraid of any of them. We owe Italy one as well. Today was a typical draw. We were surprised at the way Argentina lined up, and that showed that they had a lot of respect for us.

Torsten FRINGS (GER)
The game was a war of attrition. We had to give it our all today, and turned the match in our favour at the end.

Lukas PODOLSKI (GER)
The Argentinians played very well in defence but didn't create many chances up front. We want to win the World Cup now, whatever it takes.

Juan Pablo SORIN (ARG)
My heart just feels empty because we deserved more than a draw. We did the best we could but we didn’t have any luck. Penalties are a lottery but at the same time they’re part of the game. It would be stupid to blame (Leo) Franco because we’ve got the best keepers in the world, and I’d just like to add that I’m very proud to be part of this team. We’ve got a great side and we can get our revenge in four years' time.

Hernan CRESPO (ARG)
We played really well and it hurts so much to lose. The boys are really down because we’ve got an exceptional team, we gave it everything we had out there and we deserved so much more. Germany weren't better than us and the game was decided by the smallest of details. For me, we’ve had a disappointing tournament because we’ve been knocked out. That said, I’m very proud to be part of this group. I’m not really bothered who wins it now to be honest. I support Argentina and that’s it.

Carlos TEVEZ (ARG)
Naturally I’m very angry - we’ve just been eliminated. The fact that we played well doesn’t make it feel any better either. They attacked twice and scored a goal but Argentina were the better side. We put in a good performance but it doesn’t mean anything because we lost, and there’s nothing that has happened today that will make me feel any better about it.

Gabriel HEINZE (ARG)
It hurts a lot to lose like that. We didn’t deserve it but we gave it all we had. I really don’t know why we lost. And don’t ask me if I think Germany will win the World Cup or not because the truth is I really couldn’t care less.

Javier MASCHERANO (ARG)
We tried to play and represent the country as well as we could. I’ve got nothing to say because if you watch the game you’ll see that we were the better team. We showed we’re up there with the best teams in the world, and in my opinion there’s no such a thing as justice in football.

Roberto AYALA (ARG)
We’ve had a great World Cup and we were a great side, one that improved with every game, but now we’ve got nothing to show for it. We shouldn’t be hard on ourselves, though, and we can look ourselves in the mirror and go home proud of what we’ve done. I think the last ten minutes were vital to us not winning the game. That’s when we lost a little control and let Germany get an equaliser.

Leonardo FRANCO (ARG)
For me, I thought we played well. Losing is all part of the game but you always need some luck and we didn’t get any. They kept their heads better than we did in the penalties. We missed out and there’s nothing we can do about it now. All the same, we have to keep things in proportion because they weren’t better than us.

Julio CRUZ (ARG)
The dream is over, and it’s very hard to say that. We’ve done well overall, even though we all hoped we could get further. Although we know we lost, Germany weren’t better than us. They just had more luck in the penalties, that’s all.

Esteban CAMBIASSO (ARG)
We’re still standing tall. We outclassed them and we can go home with our heads held high.

and oops.
i forgot about the voting of the singa awards.
and when i went in, they told me the deadline was over!
:X

yups and i just watched the brazil-france match.
and oh guess who won.
FRANCE.
YESYESYESYES.
brazil is out!
IN THE QUARTER FINALS.
it'll be an all european world cup from now onwards and i'm so proud of them!

germany is manymany steps closer to the world cup :D
but i'm feeling paranoid and i think better not say so soon.
they have to get pass italy, which i'm suddenly getting scared of.
i watched the repeat of the italy vs ukraine match today, and they dominated and shot in 3 nice goals.
then there's portugal/france.
the portugal match was kind of boring, but they still won england, and thats what matters!
its either you win or you dont.
no such thing as deserving losers.
if you deserved it, then why didnt you win it.
its so ironic.
anyways, france was really great today!
brazil were bursting with energy especially in the beginning, but france controlled the game in the 2nd half and made sure brazil would make an early departure.
i'm real proud of them, although i dont support them and i think thier new jersey needs some serious changes, but they seriously deserved to win this match and proved to even people like me who doubted them, that they are improving and improving fast (:

but still,
deutschland fuer immer - germany forever :D
learnt this from qian (:
